"Old Town" Homicide Victim in Portland, Oregon Identified, Investigators Request Assistance

PORTLAND, OR (August 23, 2021) - The Portland Police Bureau is reporting that on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 1:48 A.M., Central Precinct officers on patrol were flagged down about a shooting inside a bar in the 300 block of Northwest Everett Street.

The victim in this shooting has been identified as JaMarie Herring Sr., 25. Herring’s family has been notified and provided the attached photo for media release. They are requesting privacy at this time and are respectfully declining interview requests.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and determined Herring died from a gunshot wound and ruled his death a homicide.

During the investigation, detectives determined there were about 40-50 people inside Mingle Lounge when the shooting occurred. None of these people remained on scene to speak with responding officers. Detectives would like to talk to anyone who was present in the bar prior to or during the shooting, which occurred at 1:48 A.M..

A man is deceased after a shooting in an Old Town Bar

On Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 1:48a.m., Central Precinct officers on patrol were flagged down about a shooting inside a bar in the 300 block of Northwest Everett Street. They were directed to an adult male with apparent gunshot injuries. He was treated by AMR paramedics in an ambulance but died before reaching the hospital.

The suspect or suspects left the scene before police were notified. There is no suspect information being released at this time.
