Fiscal Court Member/Retired Business Owner in Clay County, Kentucky passes away

MANCHESTER, KY (June 21, 2022) - Clay County Fiscal Court member, Ray Brown passed on Sunday, June 19th, 2022 at the Pikeville Medical Center at the age of 77.

Many Clay Countians fondly remember Ray Brown for his work delivering propane gas throughout Clay County.

Before his retirement, Ray was self-employed for 43 years as owner of the Swafford & Brown LP gas business in Manchester, KY.

When people were in need of propane either for cooking or heat, the weather, holidays etc. were never issues with Ray. He knew that in some instances the very survival of a person(s) or even an entire family depended on him and no matter how remote the area or what the weather conditions were, he always found a way to make that gas delivery.

Ray Brown was a Kentucky Colonel and considered as a skillful politician.

At the time of his death on Sunday, Ray was a member of the Clay County Fiscal Court where had served as Magistrate of Clay County's District 5 for 11.5 years and was a candidate for another term in the upcoming general election in November.
