Fatal Weekend Collision on Interstate 75 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky

MOUNT VERNON, KY – The Kentucky State Police is reporting that KSP Post 11, London was notified by Rockcastle County 911 at approximately 6:08 PM on Saturday, June 25, 2022, of a single vehicle injury accident on Interstate 75 northbound at the 72-mile marker. The collision resulted in one fatality.

The initial investigation indicates that a Green 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Matthew S. Sheridan, 32 years old of Somerset, KY, and his passenger Faith A. Jenkins, 26 years old of Somerset was traveling north on Interstate I-75.

The initial finding is the rear wheel of the motorcycle blew out causing Mr. Sheridan to lose control of the motorcycle and laying it down on its side. Both were taken by Rockcastle EMS to Saint Joseph's Hospital in Berea.

Mr. Sheridan was later transferred to the UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital and is being treated with nonlife threating injuries.

Faith A. Jenkins succumbed from her injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Madison County Coroner's Office.

Neither party involved in the collision was wearing a helmet.

Trooper Cory Jones is continuing the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Troopers from Post 11 London, Madison County EMS, Rockcastle EMS, Mount Vernon Fire Department, Brodhead Police Department, Rockcastle Sheriff' Office and Madison Coroner's Office.
