The Multnomah County sheriff’s deputies took the teenager, who is a student at Reynolds High School, into custody on Wednesday, October 12. The teenager was transported to the Juvenile Justice Center, where he remains.
The arrest is a result of vigorous investigative work by Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office school resource deputies and detectives in collaboration with the Reynolds School District.
The case was forwarded to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office to consider criminal charges.
When the shooting occurred, during lunch period on Monday, two school resource deputies were at the school. The school resource deputies rushed to the adjacent park with school security, in addition to the many law enforcement officers who also responded to the school.
Based on information that the suspects left in a direction away from the school, and in conjunction with the large police presence at the campus, the sheriff’s office determined the school grounds were safe.
