INJURY ACCIDENT: Pickup truck Collides with School Bus Carrying 23 Children in Rockcastle Co., KY

MOUNT VERNON, KY (April 29, 2025) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Erik Stallsworth responded to an injury accident located on South Wilderness Road in the City Limits of Mount Vernon involving a Pickup truck and a Rockcastle County School System School Bus.

Preliminary investigation indicates that 76-year-old Ronald D. McClure of Mount Vernon was operating a 2017 Chevrolet pick-up truck when he collided with a 2016 International School bus operated by 63-year-old Carolyn Holt of Orlando Kentucky.

In total 23 kids were transported by another school bus to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of any possible injuries. The bus driver and the driver of the pickup truck were transported by private vehicles for medical evaluation. The bus monitor was treated on the scene by EMS and taken to Rockcastle Co Regional Hospital. No serious life-threatening injuries are suspected for anyone involved at this time.   

Assisting on the scene: Kentucky State Police, Mount Vernon Police, Rockcastle Co. Sheriff, Rockcastle EMS, Rockcastle Co Fire Department.
