LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Austyn Weddle arrested Michael Stephen Moore age 21 of Barbourville, KY on Sunday morning April 27, 2025 at approximately 10:28 AM.
The arrest occurred in a church parking lot off N. Laurel Rd. approximately 2 miles north of London after Deputy Weddle was dispatched by London – Laurel County 911 Communication Ctr. to an unknown problem occurring at the church.
When Deputy Weddle arrived in the parking lot of the church members of the church were pointing at an individual walking in the parking lot. Deputy Weddle attempted to make contact with the male subject and noted him being extremely jittery and talking but not making any sense and attempting to reach into his pockets while screaming and creating a disturbance as members and their children exited their vehicle to walk into the church.
As Deputy Weddle attempted to take this individual into custody, he began struggling with Deputy Weddle who with assistance from a church member were able to take the suspect into custody.
During investigation there, Deputy Weddle located the suspect in possession of suspected methamphetamine and a suspected meth pipe. In addition, he learned that this individual had allegedly entered the church and created a disturbance inside the church.
Michael Moore was charged with:
- Disorderly conduct – second-degree
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia Public intoxication – controlled substances
- Resisting arrest
- Assault – third-degree – police officer is the victim
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
