ARREST IN CLAY CO., KY DURING INVESTIGATION OF COMPLAINT ISSUED ON A FIREFIGHTER RADIO

MANCHESTER, KY - Clay County Sheriff, Patrick Robinson, reports that on Saturday, May 3, 2025, Deputy Dustin Henson received a call from Clay County Dispatch, that an individual identified as James Smallwood,  stated over a firefighter radio that someone was at his residence on Sandhill Road in Manchester, shooting at his dogs and house trying to harm him and his family. 

Upon arrival at the scene, Deputy Henson made contact with the subject's parents and also the subject himself. The father stated that his son had lost his mind and no such incident had occurred at his residence, in which the above mentioned subject resides at as well. The mother also stated that no such incident had occurred at the residence and they had been there the entire time.

During Deputy Henson's investigation it was determined that no event had taken place such as Smallwood had stated to Clay County 911. It was also determined that James Smallwood, age 30 seemed to have some mental health issues and could be a possible danger to himself and others at the residence. Smallwood was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Clay County Detention Center.

James Smallwood was arrested for:

  • FALSE REPORT AN INCIDENT TO LAW ENFORCEMENT

This individual was lodged in the Clay County Detention Center.
