ARREST: STABBING VICTIMS TALK AFTER KNIFE ATTACKS ON ROOTS BRANCH RD. IN CLAY COUNTY, KY

MANCHESTER, KY - Clay County Sheriff, Patrick Robinson, reports that on Monday, May 5, 2025 Deputy Sgt. Wes Brumley responded to a report of a stabbing on Roots Branch Road in Manchester.

While in route, Deputy Sgt. Brumley and Deputy Blackwell, were notified that the victims had left going to the hospital for stab wounds.

Upon arrival to the scene Deputy Sgt. Brumley found that several individuals had detained Stephen Centers, age 27 of Manchester, KY. Sgt. Brumley continued to detain Centers as he conducted an investigation.

Through the investigation and speaking with the victims Deputy Sgt. Brumley determined Centers to be the aggressor and that he had gotten into an altercation where three (3) victims had been stabbed, one female had been pushed down, and one small child had been chased by Centers with a knife.

The victims stated that Centers came from behind with the first attack on a male victim, cutting him in the neck. In a 2nd attack, Centers stabbed another victim in the shoulder.

The victims also stated that Centers started towards his grandmother, knocking her down and in that attack, a third victim was stabbed in the chest. A young female said that Centers had chased her with the knife in his hand.

The detained suspect, Stephen Centers was arrested without further incident and transported to the Clay County Detention Center.

Stephen Centers was arrested for:

  • ATTEMPTED MURDER
  • ASSAULT, 2ND DEGREE
  • ASSAULT, 1ST DEGREE

This individual was lodged in the Clay County Detention Center and at the time of this publishing was still being held there.
