SHERIFF: Public Service Announcement for Laurel County, KY

PSA regarding persons displaced by tornado / Also, other information

LAUREL COUNTY, KY (Sat., May 17th, 2025) — Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: if anyone has been displaced by the storm, and needs housing, we have a phone number for you to call for assistance.

The phone number is 606-521-3119. Housing will be provided courtesy of Praxel.

Tornado Victims Help: We have been flooded with donations and appreciate the outpouring of help from citizens, churches and businesses. No more donations are needed currently, however we need volunteers to work at the give away point at 201 South Laurel Road at South Laurel High School. Thanks!!

UPDATE: —Location change to help citizens:
Sheriff Root reports that 20 cots are available at the warming station. Donations including personal hygiene products and food can be dropped at a new location in London —First Baptist Church at 804 West 5th Street, and we need volunteers to work at the warming center location, too! The outpouring from our community has been heartwarming.
