LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's shift Sgt. Allen Turner arrested Skyler Barnett age, 29, of Sugar Ln, Lily, KY on Thursday evening June 12, 2025 at approximately 7:05 PM.
The arrest occurred off Old Way Road, approximately 4 miles east of London after information was developed on the whereabouts of an individual wanted on an outstanding warrant.
When Sgt. Turner arrived at the scene, he located the suspect who gave false information as to his identity. Sgt. Turner knew from previous experience with a prior arrest on this individual that he was in fact the individual wanted on the outstanding warrant.
Upon arrest the suspect refused to comply and following a brief struggle was taken into custody. The suspect continued to be uncooperative and had to be placed in the patrol vehicle. During transport the suspect began banging his head on the protective cage in the patrol vehicle, banging his head multiple times causing a laceration to his head. Sgt. Turner notified EMS who responded and checked the individual prior to him being lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Skyler Barnett was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:
- Disorderly conduct – second-degree
- Public intoxication – controlled substances
- Fleeing or evading police – third-degree
- Resisting arrest
In addition, this individual was charged with:
- Resisting arrest
- Disorderly conduct – second-degree
- Menacing
