FRANKFORT, KY (June 18, 2025) — Republican Party of Kentucky (RPK) Communications Director Andy Westberry issued the following statement in response to a federal lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice against Gov. Andy Beshear and the Council on Postsecondary Education for violating federal law by providing in-state tuition to illegal aliens:
"In yet another DOJ lawsuit tied to Andy Beshear, it appears his hand-picked appointees on the Council on Postsecondary Education are working to turn Kentucky into a shadow sanctuary state by providing taxpayer-funded benefits to individuals in the country illegally — benefits not available to U.S. citizens.
"We’re demanding that Andy Beshear stop violating longstanding federal law and end the practice of offering in-state college tuition to illegal aliens.”
