INDEX, KY -- Kentucky State Police (KSP) report that: On Monday June 30, 2025 Trooper Jordan Barnett observed a red Pontiac G5 with the occupants not wearing their seatbelt in the Index community of Morgan County.
Upon running the Kentucky registration plate through LINK/NCIC it was determined the car was entered stolen. Trooper Barnett initiated a traffic stop but the operator failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. After a short pursuit the operator stopped and then fled on foot. Trooper Barnett was able to apprehend the suspect and take him into custody.
The arrested suspect was identified as Brandon Lewis, 28, of West Liberty, KY. Mr. Lewis was later transported to the Rowan County Detention Center.

Brandon Lewis was charged with the following:
- Speeding 25 mph over
- Failure to wear seatbelt
- Fleeing or Evading Police 1st (motor vehicle)
- Receiving Stolen Property $1,000<$10,000
- Oper Mtr Vehicle U/infl Subst 1st
- Reckless Driving
- Wanton Endangerment 1st
- Operating on a suspended or revoked OL
- Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd (on foot)
- Traff in Cont Sub 1st degree, 1st offense (>or =2 grams Meth)
- Poss of a Firearm by convicted felon
- Poss of a Handgun by convicted felon
Mr. Lewis was lodged in the Rowan County Detention Center.
