ST. HELENS, OR (July 20, 2025) — About 2:30pm on Sunday, July 20, deputies from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a high-speed pursuit in the Deer Island area. The suspect, who had previously eluded law enforcement in Washington, was located and attempted to flee from deputies.
During the pursuit, the suspect’s vehicle left the roadway and crashed down an embankment. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.
The Oregon State Police Major Crimes Team is conducting the investigation. No further details are being released at this time.
