Louisville, Ky. ― On January 16, 2014 at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, assisted by Louisville Metro Police Dept. officers and agents with Homeland Security Investigations, arrested a Louisville area man for charges related to child pornography.

Fernando Maldonado, 33, is charged with 20 counts of Possession of Matter Portraying a Sex Performance by a Minor- 1st Offense and 20 counts of Distribution of Matter Portraying a Sex Performance by a Minor.

The arrest was the result of an ongoing Internet Crimes Against Children investigation by the KSP Electronic Crime Branch in conjunction with KSP Post 5 in Campbellsburg. Detectives began investigating the case in December 2013 after they discovered a suspect sharing images of child sexual exploitation online. The majority of the images depicted the sexual abuse of children who were less than 10 years of age.

Maldonado was placed under arrest and lodged in the Jefferson County Jail. A full forensic examination of the evidence is pending and the investigation is ongoing by KSP Det. Josh Lawson.
