Nicholas County Collision Involves Ambulance

(Carlisle, Ky.) – On Friday March 14, 2014 at 5:58 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 6 in Dry Ridge responded to a collision involving a Nicholas County Ambulance.

Charles Bailey, 21, of Mt. Olivet, was operating a 1996 Chevrolet passenger car and traveling south on US 68. Bailey came up to the intersection at US 68 and Concrete Road (KY 36), attempted to make a left turn onto Concrete Road and did not see the Nicholas County Ambulance traveling westbound.

The ambulance struck Bailey’s vehicle on the driver’s side. Bailey’s vehicle then struck a 2011 Kia driven by Tammy McConnell, 41, of Carlisle, who was traveling eastbound on US 68.

McConnell sustained minor injuries. Bailey was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington for his injuries.

There was a patient in the ambulance at the time of the collision. However, no one in the ambulance sustained serious injuries. The ambulance was not on an emergency run and did not have its lights and siren activated.

The collision is under investigation by Trooper Troy Brooks.
