Kentucky Artisan Center – Call for Entries for Fall Exhibition

The Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea invites Kentucky artisans to submit works for the exhibit “Put a Lid on It: Containers by Kentucky Artisans” to be held Sept. 13, 2014 through Feb. 28, 2015.

Each year the Kentucky Artisan Center develops and presents several special exhibitions to showcase works by Kentucky artisans. These exhibitions focus on a specific medium, theme, or subject and often include artists and works not regularly on display at the center. Since 2004 the center has offered over 40 exhibitions featuring basketry, photography, folk art, kiln-formed and hot glass, silk and sterling silver, woodcarving, clay, natural materials, recycled works and more. These special exhibits are enjoyed by over 240,000 center visitors each year.

The center’s “Put a Lid on It” exhibit will showcase lidded containers created by Kentucky artisans working with their chosen materials, styles and forms. Lidded works can be either traditional renditions or creative new interpretations of the container. The works submitted may be functional or non-functional, but each must have the capacity to hold or contain, and each must have a lid.

The prospectus and entry form for this exhibit is available on the Center’s website at www.kentuckyartisancenter.ky.gov. You may also request an entry form and prospectus by mail at: Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Attn: “Put a Lid on It”, 200 Artisan Way, Berea, KY 40403. Deadline for entry is June 21, 2014.
