Renfro Valley, KY - For many years Renfro Valley Entertainment Center has paid tribute to our American Veterans every Saturday night on the Barn Dance show.
Renfro Valley, in partnership with Growing Warriors and filmmakers Christine Anthony and Owen Masterson, are offering a free and exclusive film screening of TERRA FIRMA, on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 P.M. in the Old Barn Theater.
Before the closing finale, all veterans and those currently serving in the military are asked to stand as the crowd gives them the thunderous applause that they so deserve and then are treated to a patriot medley of songs that is guaranteed to touch the heart of everyone in the auditorium. On May 17th the entertainment center will continue the Barn Dance tradition and will be going one step further to celebrate Armed Forces Day.

This event is being passionately put together by Growing Warriors to highlight the story of women military veterans and their continued service among our nation's farmers. Since it began, over 280,000 women have been sent to the Middle East to serve in the War on Terror. Often traumatized by their experiences, they return home changed. Terra Firma weaves together the stories of three female veterans who were deployed to Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan in 2003. Through intimate interviews, they share their motivations for joining the service, their experiences as females in the military, and the impact of war on their lives. After struggling for years with combat related PTSD they have each found ways to heal their hidden wounds through farming.
As a special treat, Lee Greenwood will also be in concert that night to inspire us once again with "God Bless The USA" as only he can do. Any active service member or veteran, who buys a ticket to the Greenwood concert, will receive a free ticket to a regular Renfro Valley show during the 2014 season.
