Investigation on car stuck in a snow pile leads to three arrests

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Mikey Ashurst arrested three individuals on Tuesday night February 24, 2015 at approximately 10:10 P.M.

The arrests occurred off West Cumberland Gap Parkway approximately 10 miles south of London after Deputy Ashurst conducted an investigation on a blue colored Chevrolet Impala that he observed stuck in a snow pile in front of a business off US 25E.

Deputy Ashurst detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver of the Impala, and determined that the driver was under the influence.

Arrested was: Tilda Smallwood age 53 Philpot Road, London - Charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense and careless driving.

Also arrested were 2 other occupants in the vehicle wanted on outstanding Laurel County bench warrants of arrest for failure to appear in court.

They were: Rex Smallwood age 26 and Thomas Smallwood age 23 both also of Philpot Road, London.

All three subjects were lodged in Laurel County Detention Center.
