Traffic stop, foot chase and struggle with deputies - Laurel County

 

 

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Tyler Morris along with Deputy Andrew Lawson arrested an East Bernstadt man early Monday morning March 9, 2015 at approximately 2:07 A.M..

Arrested was Jimmy Asher age 44 Fire Station Road, East Bernstadt, KY.

The arrest occurred off Little Pittsburgh Road approximately 2 miles north of London after deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and the occupant gave deputies someone else's name besides his own.

When asked to step out of the vehicle and the subject fled on foot and was chased through several backyards of residences nearby until deputies were able to catch up with him.

Deputies briefly struggled with the subject before finally taking him into custody.

Jimmy Asher was charged with giving an officer a false name; fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot; alcohol intoxication in a public place; and resisting arrest.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense.

This subject was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
