KSP Investigates Identity Theft of Elderly Females in Lee County

(Beattyville, KY.) – On Friday, March 13, 2015, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office served an arrest warrant on a Lee County woman, following an investigation by the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post.

The initial investigation alleges that Marsha Cook, 51 years old of Beattyville, stole the identities of two elderly females and received student loans totaling more than $50,000. Cook, who previously worked in the homes of the elderly victims as their home health nurse, created an e-mail address and a federal student loan profile to apply for the loans using the their names, dates of birth, social security numbers, and driver’s license numbers.

Marsha Cook has been arrested and charged with Theft of Identity of Another without Consent and Theft by Deception of $10,000 or more.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Detective Jesse Armstrong.
