FREE programs offered by the Clay County Extension Office in April

 

Educational programs of the Cooperative Extension Service serve all people regardless of race, color, age, sex, religion, disability or national origin.

♦Interested in selling at the Clay County Community Farmers Market during 2015?  Come discuss the market with other vendors, learn about state regulations & market rules and sign up to be a vendor on April 2nd at the EXCEL Center beginning at 5:30 pm.  Please call 598-2789 for more information or to register.

♦The 4-H Talk Meet and Demonstration Contest will be held April 3rd at the EXCEL Center beginning at 6:00 pm. FREE & open to all youth ages 9-19.

♦There will be a Pesticide Training for those needing their pesticide card on April 9th beginning at 10:00 am.  Another training is scheduled for May 5th at 6:00 pm for those that cannot attend during the day.  Both trainings will be held at the Extension Office.  Please call 598-2789 to register.

♦Diabetes Support Group will be meeting April 9th at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office.  We will have a guest speaker that will talk about the importance of foot care for the diabetic.  She will then measure you for shoes.  If you are a diagnosed diabetic, you can order one pair of shoes every 12 months through this program. You can bring your doctor’s order with you or she willtake care of this for you.  FREE & open to all diabetics.  If you want to register or need more information, call 598-2789.

♦Cooking 101 is April 16th at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office.  Come learn the basics of cooking: where do you start, what are some of the cooking terms you see in recipes and why would you want to cook at home verses going out to eat?  Come join us for an evening of food fun!  FREE & open to the public! You must call 598-2789 to register.

Quilt Show & the 100 Year Celebration of Family & Consumer Science will be on Apr 18th at 10 am at the EXCEL Center. We will have new & old quilts.  Demonstrations include: Using an Embroidery Machine, Crazy Quilt, Rotary Cutting & Briar Stitch. We will also have a Bed Turning for you to share your story about quilts. Door prizes hourly. FREE & open to the public!

♦Plate It Up Cooking School will be held April 23rd at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office.  We will be sampling three of the Plate It Up Recipes.  The Plate It Up Recipes contain ingredients that can be grown in Kentucky gardens.  We hope you join us for an evening of food fun!  FREE & open to the public!  Call 598-2789 to register.

♦The Clay County 4-H Teen Club will be meeting on April 24th at 6:00 pm at the EXCEL Center.  FREE & open to all youth ages 9-19.

♦The Homemaker leader training “Creating Art from Paper” will be April 29th at 10:00 am at the Extension Office.  Hazel Jackson will be teaching our program for us.  Learn how to create art from paper.  This is a way to relieve stress and create a beautiful item.  This program is free and open to the public but you must call 598-2789 to register.

♦Family Fun Night is April 30th from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at the EXCEL Center.  Come enjoy an evening of fun with your family.  Family time will help create memories that will last a lifetime.  We are doing a carnival theme.  FREE & open to the public!
