(Harlan, Ky.) On March 31, 2015 at 5:49 p.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call of an injury collision on Ky 38 in the Shields community of Harlan County. Troopers from post 10 responded to the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle operated by Morrice Petrey, 36, of Evarts was traveling east on Ky 38 when he crossed the center line striking a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck. The truck was driven by Lloyd Fleenor Jr.
Mr. Petrey was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Harlan County Coroner Jim Rich. Mr. Petrey wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Mr. Fleenor didn’t receive any injuries due to the collision.
Collision is still under investigation by Tpr. Kenny Abner. Also assisted at the scene were Tpr. Brandon Burton, TFC. Kevin Miller, TFC. Jimmy Holcomb, Lt. Randy Surber, Upper Cloverfork Fire Dept, and Harlan EMS.
