Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Larry Parrott arrested Shannon Smith age 37 of Cripple Creek, Adams, Ky on Thursday evening April 2, 2015 at approximately 5:53 P.M.
The arrest occurred off West Cumberland Gap Parkway approximately 11 miles south of London after Deputy Parrott was dispatched to a complaint that a male and female subject were passed out inside a restaurant there, and that they had an infant child with them.
When Deputy Parrott arrived at the scene he located the male subject sitting in the driver's seat slumped over the wheel of a white colored GMC Sierra with the engine running. A small infant child was in his lap.
Deputy Parrott conducted an investigation determining that this subject was under the influence.
Shannon Smith was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; driving on DUI suspended license first offense; and other traffic offenses.
The infant child was released to his sister.
Another person involved in the original complaint was arrested by a KSP trooper who assisted.
Shannon Smith was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
