Laurel County, Ky - Sheriff John Root is reporting that deputy Shawn Jackson arrested Marcie Baker age 37 of Evergreen road, Flat Lick, KY early Sunday morning April 5, 2015 at approximately 4:15 A.M.
The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team detained this subject.
When Deputy Jackson arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, he learned that this subject had allegedly been observed not scanning several items in the self checkout then bagging the items and attempted to leave the store without paying for them. Value of the theft was in excess of $98.
This subject told Deputy Jackson that she thought she had rang up everything at the self checkout.
Marcie Baker was also determined to be under the influence.
Marcie Baker was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and public intoxication – controlled substances and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
