DUI arrest on American Greeting Card Road - Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Larry Parrott arrested Anthony Johnson age 29 of Caldwell St., Corbin on Sunday evening April 5, 2015 at approximately 5:57 P.M..

The arrest occurred on American Greeting Card road, approximately 10 miles south of London after Deputy Parrott conducted a traffic stop for an expired license plate on a white colored Nissan Pathfinder.

When Deputy Parrott approached the vehicle he could smell a strong odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle and also emitting from the driver.

An investigation was conducted and the subject was determined to be under the influence. Anthony Johnson was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; operating on suspended or revoked operators license; possession of marijuana; no registration plates; failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense; and other traffic violations.

In addition, Deputy Parrott learned this subject was wanted in Whitley County on a bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding operating on suspended or revoked operator's license and numerous other traffic offenses; and also wanted on a Whitley County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding operating on suspended or revoked operator's license and failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance as well as being wanted in Laurel County on a bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding possession of marijuana and traffic offenses; and a bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of possession of marijuana.

This subject was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
