KSP Arrests Carter County Man On Charges Related To Child Sexual Exploitation

(Olive Hill, Ky.)— On April 9, 2015, at approximately 11:15 a.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, assisted by Post 14-Ashland, arrested Anthony Butler, 46, for charges related to prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor / police officer for sex.

Butler was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect communicating with a juvenile on a popular social networking site. Butler was asking the juvenile for explicit photographs and agreed to meet the juvenile if she complied.

The investigation resulted in the execution of an arrest warrant at Butler’s residence on April 9, 2015. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.

Butler is currently charged with one count of prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor / police officer for sex. Butler was lodged in the Carter County Detention Center.
