Stolen Tractor Trailers Recovered - Laurel County

(London, KY) On Sunday April 12th 2015 around 09:00 A.M. Officer Chris McQueen with KSP-Vehicle Enforcement was called to assist the Laurel County Sheriff's Department with a reckless driving complaint of a commercial vehicle after Deputy Kevin Barry observed the driver driving recklessly, speeding and hitting construction barrels in an active construction work zone on Hal Rogers Parkway.

Upon arrival McQueen quickly observed numerous commercial vehicle violations and discovered the license plate on the trailer was removed and the VIN plate had been tampered with. After running the vehicles identification number through NCIC, officer Mcqueen learned that the tractor trailer was reported stolen.

Officer Mcqueen arrested 39 year old James M. Morris of London along with his passenger 36 year old Jerry W. Bowling of London on numerous commercial vehicle violations as well as obscuring the identity of a machine and receiving stolen property over $10,000.

Further investigation lead McQueen to the Morris residents on Cole road in Laurel County were he recovered a second stolen commercial vehicle. In all nearly $150,000 worth of stolen commercial vehicles were recovered.

Assisting with Investigation: Kentucky State Police, KSP Auto Theft Detectives and Laurel County Sheriff's Department.
