UPDATE (Grand Jury Findings) - KSP Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Madison County

Attached at end is a document containing the Madison County Grand Jury findings

(Richmond, KY) - This morning, the Kentucky State Police investigation into the Officer Involved shooting that occurred on September 13, 2014, involving Jesse Aaron Gibbons, was presented to the Madison County Grand Jury.

A copy of the investigation will be available when the case is closed and submitted to the KSP Records Branch. All requests for the investigation will be processed through KSP Open Records. The exact date of the availability is unknown.

(Richmond, KY) - The Kentucky State Police is investigating an officer involved shooting that happened on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at approximately 9:30 p.m. EDT. The incident occurred on the Eastern Bypass, near Lancaster Road in Richmond, KY.

The initial investigation indicates that Lexington Police Department initiated a pursuit that led officers into Richmond, where the suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a wooded area on the Eastern Bypass. The suspect was shot during the incident and was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Police officers from the Lexington Police Department, Madison County Sheriff's Department, and KSP, were involved in the shooting. The names of the officers and the suspect are not being released at this time. There were not any police officers injured at the scene of the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by the Kentucky State Police.
