KSP traffic stop leads to suspected meth, handguns, scales & more - Laurel County

 

 

(LONDON, KY.) – On Friday, April 17, 2015 at approximately 1:52 AM, KSP SGT Steve Walker stopped a 2004 Ford Explorer for a minor traffic violation on KY HWY 80 West in Laurel County.

SGT Walker suspected that the driver, Shawn B. Asher, 26, of London was under the influence of drugs.

During a search of the vehicle, 28 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine was located along with two (2) handguns, one (1) set of scales, a portable handheld police radio and a ballistic vest.

Asher was arrested at the scene and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

He was charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Possession / Use of a Police Radio, DUI, and numerous traffic charges.

SGT Walker is continuing the investigation.
