Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Rick Cloyd arrested two individuals at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County on Saturday afternoon April 18, 2015 at approximately 2:30 P.M.
The arrests occurred after Walmart's loss prevention team detained 2 subjects.
When Deputy Cloyd arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation he learned that a male and female subject had allegedly been observed concealing merchandise in the store.
Apparently, the female subject was using clothing taken off hangers and standing with them in such a position as to hide a male subject with her that was selecting merchandise and concealing it. Items included chargers, power kits, power blocks, a USB cable, and an AC charger value more than $83.
Both subjects attempted to leave the store without paying for the items.
Deputy Cloyd arrested Ginger Ranston age 24 of Taylor Ave., London charging her with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting.
In addition, this subject was wanted on a Whitley County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court on traffic charges.
In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and public intoxication – controlled substances.
Also arrested was Lloyd Wagers age 38 of Winding Blade Rd., East Bernstadt charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting. In addition, this subject was charged on a Rockcastle County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding a charge of theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting.
Both Subjects were lodged in the Laurel County dDetention Center.
