Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Shawn Jackson arrested Tasha Shelton age 31 of Jacksboro, Tennessee early Wednesday morning April 22, 2015 at approximately 1:14 A.M.
The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team detained this subject.
When Deputy Jackson arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation he learned that this subject was attempting to leave the store with $180 worth of unpaid merchandise and had allegedly concealed it in a shopping buggy along with personal items.
This subject stated she was attempting to steal the items for as friend that was with her but when she went outside her friend had left the scene.
Tasha Shelton was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
