Arrest Made in a Bell County Theft

 

 

(Arjay, Ky.) On April 18, 2015 Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call about a theft off of Ky 66 in Pineville. A 1999 Honda 300 was taken from behind a residence. Tpr. Aaron Fredrick began an investigation.

Through Tpr. Fredrick’s investigation he collected surveillance footage from the home and pictures that were taken from a neighbor who saw two individuals walking around in the area. Tpr. Fredrick was able to match the evidence to Jason Rice of Arjay and later that evening conduct an interview with him. Mr. Rice admitted that he and his brother James Rice of Arjay stole the ATV from behind the residence.

Jason Rice was arrested and charged with Theft by Unlawful taking over $500.00 but under $1000.00 and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.

On Monday April 20, 2015 Tpr. Fredrick obtained an arrest warrant for James Rice. Troopers located James Rice but he fled on foot.

The following day Mr. Rice turned himself in. James Rice was arrested and charged with Theft by Unlawful taking over $500.00 but under $1000.00 along with several outstanding warrants.

Mr. Rice was lodged in the Bell County Detention.

The stolen ATV was recovered and turned back over to the owner. Case is still under investigation by Tpr. Fredrick.

Also assisted with the investigation were Tpr. Chris Pruit and Tpr. Josh Messer.
