FREE programs offered by the Clay County Extension Office in May

Pesticide Training will be on May 5th at 6 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. This will be an opportunity to receive or renew your certification to be a private pesticide applicator.  The training will last 1.5-2 hours and you will leave with your certified private applicator card that you have to show when you purchase restricted-use pesticides.  FREE! Pastured Poultry Training will be on May 12th at 6 pm at the EXCEL building. Laura Rodgers, Kentucky State University Small Farm Area Agent, will be with us to teach the basics of raising pastured poultry.  The meeting will take place at the EXCEL building at 6:00 pm.  This meeting is CAIP approved and is FREE & open to the public.  Please call the office at 598-2789 or send a Facebook message to register.

Just Get Moving Manchester will be on May 16th at Rawlings & Stinson Park from 5 – 6:30 pm.  Come out and be physically active with your family.  We will have a variety of activities you will be able to participate in such as: badminton, hula hoop, dart game, jump rope, skip it, sack races, 3 legged race, egg race, and team races.  Prizes will be given away. You will have the opportunity to have a busy, fun filled day! Fun for the whole family!  FREE & open to the public!

Garden Maintenance will be on May 21st at 6 pm at Red Bird on the Queensdale Campus.  This meeting will give gardeners the basics on taking care of a garden throughout the summer season.  We will talk about equipment, trellising, insecticides, and fungicides used in raising a garden.  FREE & open to the public.  This meeting is CAIP approved.

The 4-H Teen Club will be meeting on May 29th at 6:00 pm at the EXCEL Center.  Free and open to all youth ages 12-17.
