KSP Arrests Madison County Employee with Forgery and Theft

 

 

(Richmond, KY.) – This afternoon, the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, arrested the Madison County CSEPP Finance Officer for Forgery and Theft.

The initial investigation began after the Madison County EMA contacted KSP, asking for an investigation into some missing property.

As a result of the investigation, Tamara Phelps, 54 years old of Berea, was arrested and charged with sixty counts of Forgery 1st Degree and one count of Theft by Unlawful Taking over $10,000.

Phelps is lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.

The investigation alleges that between June 25, 2014 and April 28, 2015, while Tamara Phelps was employed as the Madison County CSEPP Finance Officer, she forged the Director’s signature on sixty purchase orders and numerous reimbursement sheets through the Madison County Fiscal Court, totaling over $33,900.

The property that she obtained included electronic devices, residential items, and auto repairs.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Detective Michael Keeton.
