KSP Investigates Fatal Collision in Boyle County

(Danville, KY) — The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is investigating a fatal collision that happened just before 10:45 AM Friday morning, at the intersection of Hustonville Road and the Danville Bypass in Danville.

The initial investigation has revealed that a Danville Fire Department SUV was responding to a vehicle fire south of Danville on Hustonville Road. As the fire department vehicle entered the intersection of Hustonville Road and the Danville Bypass, a Honda Goldwing motorcycle, that was traveling east on the Danville Bypass, struck the passenger side of the vehicle. Two other vehicles were involved in a collision as the fire department vehicle came to a stop near the intersection.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Boyle County Coroner. The passenger on the motorcycle was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

The ongoing investigation indicates that the Danville Fire Department SUV had its emergency equipment activated at the time of the collision. Both the driver and the passenger on the motorcycle were wearing their helmets when the collision occurred.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper Jeff Stith. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, Danville Police Department, Danville Fire Department, Boyle County EMS, Boyle County Sheriff’s Office, and the Boyle County Coroner.
