Police searching for suspect that tried to force stolen truck through tunnel in Laurel County, KY

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Josh Scott recovered a stolen dump truck pulling a lowboy trailer on Bullock Road approximately 1 mile north of London on Tuesday morning May 12, 2015 at approximately 10:45 AM.

Deputy Scott was dispatched by Laurel 911 to a traffic crash on Bullock Road involving a dump truck. In addition it was reported to him that a male subject had jumped out of the vehicle and fled down the railroad tracks.

When Deputy Scott arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation he learned that the vehicle had been stolen from a job in London on west Ky 80 near the intersection of US 25.

The male suspect who allegedly stole the vehicle apparently did not know how to drive the vehicle, and when he traveled down Bullock Road , the vehicle would not fit through the tunnel that goes under CSX railroad. The suspect made at least two attempts to force his way through the tunnel, and finally abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot down the railroad tracks.

When this suspect stole the truck and lowboy trailer, he did not release the trailer brakes, and left black scuff marks on the roadway at the scene of the theft.

The suspect is described as a white male, red colored hair and a white shirt.

Anyone with any information on the suspect is asked to contact the Laurel County Sheriff's office at 606-864-6600, and they can remain anonymous.

Investigation is continuing by Deputy Josh Scott.
