(Richmond, KY) - The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, is investigating a fatal collision that happened just before 5:30 p.m. last night on Jacks Creek Road in Madison County.
The initial investigation indicates that Abigail E. Melton of Lagrange, KY, lost control of her 2004 Dodge Neon while driving east on Jacks Creek Road, and collided with a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt that was traveling west, operated by David Ballard of Richmond.
As a result of the collision, the front passenger in Melton's vehicle, Alyssa M. Moorman, 20 years old of Dayton, OH, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Madison County Coroner.
Abigail Melton and two additional passengers in her vehicle were transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital with injuries.
David Ballard was the sole occupant in his vehicle and was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper Albert LaGrange. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, Madison County EMS, Madison County Fire & Rescue, and the Madison County Coroner.
