Shoplifting, Possession of Marijuana arrests - Laurel County, KY

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Detective Kevin Berry along with Deputy John Inman arrested two individuals at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County on Wednesday afternoon May 13, 2015 at approximately 1:23 P.M.

The arrests were the result of an investigation conducted there after Walmart's loss prevention team detained a female subject inside the store who had allegedly been observed shoplifting.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they learned that Kaylene Woodlee age 22 of Slate Ridge Rd., Lily had allegedly been observed concealing merchandise valued at more than $31.00 and attempted to leave the store without paying.

In addition, deputies conducted an investigation and determined that this subject was under the influence.

Kaylene Woodlee was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and public intoxication – controlled substances. Also in the course of the investigation, deputies learned that this female subject had allegedly been dropped off at Walmart and that her boyfriend was waiting for her in the parking lot.

Deputies located this subject in a blue colored Chevrolet Tracker and conducted an investigation determining that this subject was driving with a DUI suspended license.

James Pennington age 18 of Slate Ridge Rd., Lily was charged with driving on DUI suspended license – first offense and possession of marijuana.

Both individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
