Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Rick Cloyd arrested John Carroll age 20 of Cumberland Ave. Apartments, Williamsburg on Saturday afternoon May 16, 2015 at approximately 3 P.M.
The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team detained this subject.
When Deputy Cloyd arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, he learned that this subject had allegedly been observed concealing men's clothing on his person and attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. Value of the items was more than $17.
In addition, Deputy Cloyd learned that this subject was wanted on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court.
John Carroll was arrested on the bench warrant of arrest as well as being charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
