Woman accused of shoplifting also charged on three bench warrants of arrest - Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Larry Parrott arrested Ashley Lay age 31 of Little Wolf Creek, Williamsburg on Monday night May 18, 2015 at approximately 6:54 P.M.

The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team detained this subject.

When Deputy Parrott arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation he learned that this subject had allegedly been observed removing tags off items she selected in the store and went to self checkout ringing out items with the wrong ticket on them.Total value of the theft was in excess of $83.

Deputy Parrott also learned that this subject had been trespassed at Williamsburg Walmart for previous shoplifting there.

Ashley Lay was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and criminal trespass third-degree. In addition, this subject was charged on three Whitley County bench warrants of arrest for failure to appear regarding charges of operating on suspended or revoked license and other traffic offenses.

Ashley Lay was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
