Deadline Closed for Recanvass Requests in May 19 Primary Election

Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes

The deadline for candidates to request a recanvass in the May 19 Primary Election has passed, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes has announced.

The deadline to submit a written request to the Secretary of State’s office for a recanvass was 4 p.m., Eastern Time, Tuesday, 05 26, 2015, per Kentucky law.

Grimes received two statewide recanvass requests. Last week, James R. Comer and Chris McDaniel, Republican candidates for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, and Richard Heath, a Republican candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture, requested a statewide recanvass of the results in their respective primary elections.

County boards of elections will convene at 9 a.m. on May 28 to recheck and recanvass the voting machines. County boards of elections will notify the candidates of the location of the recanvass. Immediately upon completion of the recanvass, the county boards of elections will file their recanvass reports with the Secretary of State.
