Fishtailing Dodge Durango - Laurel County, KY



Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Shawn Boroviak arrested one subject early Saturday morning May 23, 2015 at approximately 5:58 A.M.

The arrest occurred off Fariston Road, approximately 2 miles south London after Deputy Boroviak, while on routine patrol, observed a red Dodge Durango leave a driveway spinning its tires, losing traction causing the vehicle to fishtail.

Deputy Boroviak activated his emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop, however, the above failed to stop and traveled in excess of speeds of 60 mph in a 45 mph zone.

The red Dodge Durango made a right turn onto Circle Street were the vehicle became disabled and came to a stop.

Deputy Boroviak removed the driver from the vehicle who became belligerent, creating a disturbance to neighbors in the residential area.

Auring the investigation of the passenger, the driver of the vehicle attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody. The driver was determined to be under the influence.

The driver was identified as Matthew Sherman age 18 of Circle St., London charged with reckless driving; speeding 15 mph over the limit; fleeing or evading police – second-degree – motor vehicle; resisting arrest; fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot; operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; disorderly conduct – second-degree; inadequate silencer – muffler; failure to wear seatbelts; failure to produce insurance card; failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance – first offense; and license to be in possession.

Matthew Sherman was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
