Traffic Crash and Assault Investigation / Laurel County

(LONDON, KY.) – Kentucky State Police SGT Steve Walker is investigating a motor vehicle collision involving a state trooper that occurred at approximately 11:56 PM Friday night on KY 192 in London.

The investigation revealed that Trooper Donnie Foley, who was operating a marked state police cruiser, was stopped at a traffic light in the westbound lane of KY 192 at the intersection of KY 363 in the city limits of London when a semi-truck, that was also traveling westbound, struck the rear of Trooper Foley’s vehicle.

After the initial impact, the semi-truck impacted Trooper Foley’s vehicle a second time, causing injury to Trooper Foley and severe damage to the cruiser.

After the second impact, the semi-truck fled the scene, turned right onto KY 363 and continued northbound toward London.

An immediate broadcast was made and numerous police units responded to the scene and searched the area but were unable to locate the semi-truck. Trooper Foley was taken to Saint Joseph Hospital in London where he was treated and released.

The semi-truck was described as being dark in color, not pulling a trailer and should have front end damage.

Anyone with any information as to the whereabouts of the semi-truck and operator is asked to contact Kentucky State Police, Post 11 at 606-878-6622 or 1-800-222-5555.
