Alleged shoplifters along with their alleged getaway driver jailed in Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky.  - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Milton Storm arrested Michelle Marlow age 47 of Depot Hollow, Cumberland Gap, Tennessee on Friday evening May 29, 2015 at approximately 5:20 P.M.

The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team detained this subject.

When Deputy Storm arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation he learned that this subject has allegedly been observed placing items into a Walmart bag and leaving the store with no attempt to pay for the items. Total value was in excess of $59 and included Downey and Gain.

Deputy Storm learned that this subject had previously been caught for shoplifting at Walmart and banned from returning to the store. Michelle Marlow was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and criminal trespassing – third-degree.

In addition, this subject was wanted on a Bell County warrant of arrest charging theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting.

Deputy Storm also arrested a second individual identified as Amber Steffen age 32 of Lassie J Ln., London – this subject was allegedly observed concealing items in a diaper bag and attempted to leave the store without paying for the items – total value was in excess of $36 and included wipes, shorts, tank tops and a red bull drink.

Amber Steffen was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and alcohol intoxication in a public place.

A third suspect was arrested in the parking lot by Deputy Rick Cloyd – allegedly Jesse Steffen age 37 of West 10th Street Apartments, London was waiting in the parking lot for the two female subjects that had been caught shoplifting inside the store.

Deputy Cloyd determined that Jesse Steffen was wanted on a Laurel County bench warrant arrest for failure to appear in court regarding fraudulent use of credit card- four counts.

Deputy Cloyd also charged this subject with giving an officer of a false name or address – apparently this subject gave false information to Deputy Cloyd in an attempt to avoid being arrested on a bench warrant.

All three subjects were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
