Kentucky State Police Involved In Shooting On North Elkhorn Creek

(FRANKFORT, Ky.) - On May 31, 2015 at approximately 10:06 p.m., Kentucky State Police, Scott County Sheriff's Office and Georgetown Police Department attempted to locate a male subject with an active warrant who is believed to be a burglary suspect.

Scott County Sheriff's Office received reports the suspect was camping on the banks of North Elkhorn Creek, near the intersection of Lemons Mill Road and New Town Pike in Georgetown. When Officers located the suspect, he was brandishing a hand gun. Troopers instructed the man to drop the weapon, the suspect refused, raising the gun toward the officers. Officers fired on the suspect.

The 33 year old Georgetown man was transported to the University Of Kentucky Hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition. Charges against the suspect are pending.

No Officers were injured in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police.
