Two arrests made after car crashes through fence in Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Kyle Gray assisted by Trooper Kelly Farris arrested two individuals early Wednesday morning June 3, 2015 at approximately 12:58 A.M.

The arrest occurred off Earl Howard Road approximately 11 miles south of London after officers were dispatched to a complaint that a white Mitsubishi Gallant had ran through a fence and left the scene.

When officers arrived at the scene they located the vehicle still crashed through the fence there.

Following an investigation conducted by officers at the scene the driver of the vehicle was located and an investigation was conducted determining that she was under the influence.

Whitney Darnell age 24 of Cameron drive, Gray, Ky. was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance – first offense; instructional permit violations; no operator's license; and leaving the scene of an accident – failure to render aid or assistance.

Another individual arrested at the scene of the crash following investigation was identified as Christopher Mason age 27 of Laurel Whitley Road, Corbin  - charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Both individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
