Shoplifting arrests and Parole Violation - Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Sgt. Rodney Grimes along with Deputy Rick Cloyd arrested two individuals at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team detained them on Thursday afternoon June 11, 2015 at approximately 2:55 P.M.

When deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation they learned that a male and a female subject had allegedly been observed concealing merchandise and attempting to leave the store without paying for the items – value $10.39.

The two individuals arrested were identified as: Matthew Cornett age 24 of Garland Cemetery Road, Gray charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and also charged on a Kentucky parole violation warrant charging absconding parole supervision, use of a controlled substance, failure to report to parole officer as directed, and failure to make restitution as directed regarding a conviction for three counts of burglary – second-degree; 3 counts of burglary – first-degree; theft by unlawful taking; theft by unlawful taking – firearm; and escape – second-degree.

Also arrested was Rebecca Holder age 23 of Campbell Rd., Corbin charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting.

Both individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
