UPDATE---Shooting in Knox County

(Barbourville, Ky.) On Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:47 p.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call that a male individual had been shot.

Troopers Chad Gregory, Jonathan Carlock, Josh Messer and Detective Jason York along with deputies from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to 322 Turner Loop Road in Barbourville community of Knox County.

Once troopers arrived on the scene they located Ford Collett, of Barbourville who had been shot by Jason Marsee of Barbourville.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Collett came to Mr. Marsee’s residence and an altercation took place. Mr. Collett suffered a single gunshot wound and was transported by Knox County EMS to the Knox County Hospital. He was later flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Mr. Collett’s condition is not known at this time.

Mr. Marsee was arrested at the scene after troopers discovered he had an outstanding warrant not related to the incident. At this time Mr. Marsee has not been charged for the shooting. This case will be presented to a Grand Jury in Knox County. Detective Jason York is continuing the investigation.

UPDATE  - On June 22, 2015 at 5:53p.m Ford Collett passed away at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Mr. Collett was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy to determine cause of death.

This case will be presented to a Knox County Grand Jury.

Case is still under investigation by Det. Jason York.
