KSP Charges Owsley County Resident with Murder following a Fatal Collision



(Richmond, KY) — The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, is investigating a fatal collision that happened just before 7:00 p.m. last night on Kentucky HWY-11 in Owsley County.

The initial investigation indicates that Jesse Bennett, 49 years old of Mistletoe, KY, was operating a 1998 Ford Ranger south on HWY-11, and collided with a 2002 Harley Davidson Motorcycle that was traveling north. The driver of the motorcycle, Jeremiah Taylor, 24 years old of Richmond, and his passenger, Taylor Lainhart, 18 years old of Beattyville, were both airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Taylor Lainhart died as a result of her injuries while at the UK Hospital.

As a result of the initial investigation, Jesse Bennett was arrested and charged with Murder, Assault 2nd Degree, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under in Influence of Alcohol/Drugs 1st Degree (Aggravated), and Open Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle. He is lodged in the Three Forks Regional Jail.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper Brandon Scalf.
