(LONDON, KY.) – On Wednesday, July 08, 2015 at approximately 1:13 AM, Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report of a single vehicle fatal traffic crash on KY HWY 80 (5) five miles west of Manchester in Clay County.
Upon arrival Trooper Jarrod Smith determined that a 2008 Dodge Caravan operated by Nelson W. Collier, 32, of Manchester was traveling eastbound when he lost control of his vehicle in a curve, dropped off the westbound shoulder of the highway and struck a rock embankment head-on.
Collier who was not wearing a seat belt was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clay County Coroner’s Office.
Trooper Smith is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County EMS and Horse Creek Fire Department.
